2025 is on its way, which means we’re reflecting on the past year, thinking about New Year’s resolutions, and queueing up “New Year, New Me” posts.

For creators, a new year also means figuring out how to make a bigger impact and maximize earnings across their channels.

Let’s dive into some ways creators can make more in 2025:

Create specific goals

Making goals should be at the top of the list for the new year!

Setting goals provides a roadmap for where you want to go as a creator. And by doing so, you can better think about the actions you need to take to meet those goals, which makes reaching them much more attainable. 

Goal setting can be intimidating though. We get it. There’s uncertainty about whether you’ll be able to achieve them, so sometimes it’s easier to not make any.

But think about New Year’s resolutions. Only 6% of people keep their resolutions beyond a year

However, if they never made any resolutions, then 100% of people would never reach them. 

This also applies to setting goals. So, instead of avoiding goals, it’s best to embrace them and plan away!

When thinking of your 2025 goals, ask yourself questions like, “Where do I want my social accounts to be this time next year, and how can I get there?” Your answers will make the path to reaching those goals much clearer because you will have a tangible target. 

Let’s say you create blog content, and your goal is to focus more on the creative side of it instead of editing copy. That’s where you want to be. You could get there by working with a freelancer who can copy edit your blogs, giving you more time to develop blog topics, a content calendar, and the blog’s creative direction.

Another thing to remember when setting goals in 2025 is to be specific! It’s not enough to say, “I want to grow next year.” Instead, say, “I want to double my following next year” or “I want to grow by 15% next year.” Making your goals more targeted will help you plan how to approach each one. 

And once you plan your 2025 goals, it becomes much easier to plan for bigger, future goals!

Focus on standing out

Becoming a creator is getting more popular by the day — 57% of Gen Z want to be influencers!

This means standing out will be crucial for creators going into 2025.

Think about what you bring to the table as a creator. How is it different from everyone else? What makes you unique from someone else who makes similar content? Having a good answer will help differentiate you from your competitors.

One way you can answer these questions is to think about your “three uniques,” which is a marketing strategy that highlights how a business stands out from its competitors. With this strategy, a similar creator may share one or two of your three uniques, but they shouldn’t share all three. That unique trio of characteristics should be something only you can embody.

Be where conversations are happening

Finally, creators should be where conversations are happening in the new year. 

If the looming TikTok ban has taught us anything, it’s that creators should diversify the platforms they’re on and not put all their eggs in one basket. And they are. Many creators turned to long-form publishing platform Substack, which skyrocketed in popularity in 2024, due to its high audience engagement.

So, what other platforms should creators be on in 2025? Reddit is one. 

Remember when people freely expressed themselves without worrying about messing up their feed? Reddit has become a return-to-form for this.

For example, if you were to Google Search, “Is the Dyson AirWrap worth it,” chances are a Reddit post would show up in the first few results. More people crave honest, genuine recommendations and conversations; they don’t want to be sold to all the time. Reddit’s growth is proof of that.

Creators should consider having a presence on Reddit and other platforms where people are having real conversations in order to connect with their audience in 2025.
